✈️ arrived by plane

The double-decker A380 into Suvarnabhumi, wheels down five to one in the afternoon, and the heat met me on the jet bridge like a wall. Jet-lagged and grinning. A couple of days to wander the city and eat street food that ruins you for food at home.

An aquarium in the basement of a shopping mall, which undersells it badly. The best part: the underwater tunnels, sharks gliding right over your head while you stand there grinning like a kid.

Wat Pho — a downpour and a ceremony

⛵ arrived by boat

BTS to the river, then an Orange Flag express ferry across. Stepped off the pier into a downpour — fell in the water, while Thai kids ran and slid through it laughing. Incredible pad thai, then waded over to the temple. Had most of the grounds to myself, and stumbled into an actual ceremony. Sat down. Watched. Incredible.
